  Memoral time kids...... anyone going?

  i don't about you all but being raised a jehovah's witness was so ingrained in me that going to the memoral seems the right thing to do at this time of the year.

  so i for one will do it for no other reason other than i was trained that way, and of course i like the song they sing its touching and i am a big sinner lord have mercey!

  i left the borg after a 5 year struggle at home.

  the best way for me to leave was to move across the country from east to west, (still wasn't far enough), i was unemployed at the time and had no real opportunities, so my girlfriend at the time (not a jo-ho)(who my family never met) and i headed out west.

  now, i returned home about 3 years later when my dad past away, and at the funeral, people were coming up to me asking me how the west was and how was my new congregation, can you believe this.

  Ok here is a new one. I left the borg after a 5 year struggle at home. The best way for me to leave was to move across the country from East to West, (still wasn't far enough), I was unemployed at the time and had no real opportunities, so my girlfriend at the time (not a jo-ho)(who my family never met) and I headed out west. Now, I returned home about 3 years later when my dad past away, and at the funeral, people were coming up to me asking me how the west was and how was my new congregation, can you believe this. I then realized that my mom, brother and sister may have been hiding something, and to clarify my girlfriend and I were NOT married. So we were living in sin as well (and loving it). I really don't like my brother or sister too much and would really like to screw them. Now 10 years later, I go home again and would you believe the same thing. I just about DIED. What are they doing, are they that embarrased of me, they can't tell their Jo-Ho friends what happened with me, and that I have left. It made me feel very uncomfortable. So the question is ....... Being an elder in the congregation, and not lying but also not telling the truth, would this affect anything. They all know we live together, do not go to meetings, fall into the category of apostate, and that I hate their guts. (And I know that sounds harsh, but I really have no family, they live in a different world, very sad, but you know you can't pick your neighbors and you can't pick your parents.)

  the wife's dad is po of the congregation.. each week there is a country gospel group performing at the place.

  double standards as usual, but what do you expect from Jo-Ho's when money is involved. The question I always love to ask a Jo-Ho is ........... Why work, spend all your time in the field ministry, God looked after Job, don't you think he will look after you ?, Where's your faith ? . (okay that's two question's)

  In Your Opinion, What Is The Purpose Of This Board?

  my understanding is that this board can serve as a place to come so that jw's and ex-jw's can get together to discuss mostly, jw issues as well as matters such as our likes and dislikes of a non-religious nature.

  since there are so many posters here, could you please express what you think this place is for?

  The purpose of the board is different for everyone, mainly some can vent, point out mistakes by the Watchtower etc., continuing contradictions, I believe alot of people visit here that are probaly wishing they could leave the Watchtower Slavery Ring, but it is not easy, especially when family is involved. If the Jehovah Witness Organization can acculate 6,000,000 members worldwide in 125 years, maybe now with the internet, we can decrease that number and show what the Watchtower really is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A money making, contradicting, lying, brainwashing, bunch of BS. If they have the right to knock on doors and preach BS, then I and all people visiting this board have the right to say STOP preaching BS.I would gladly take on all comers who think the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society is right in everything they do. How can anyone be so stupid! (I hate to call people stupid, but they are)

  what's a kingdom song you can remember singing that gives you the creeps now?

  mine is "move ahead" i think that was the title, anyway it has so much rhetoric... but the tune is so darn catchy.... darn.... in my opinion, those songs are the perfect example of mind control.

  all of them, pick any number. I don't know how many remember the song ROCK ! ROCK ! til you DROP by DEF LEPPARD in the mid-eighties, but this was our knigdom fight song, of course we had to reword it. PREACH PREACH til you DROP, TEACH TEACH never STOP !!!

  when i was very young about 12 or 13 my brother [he's mad, not much older] sometimes used to do a cheeky magic trick during the watchtower[god, this was the most boring of them all, i think].

  he used to put his hands by his side and miraculously the books on his lap would rise all by themselves [yeah, you guessed it ...morning glory], well it made me laugh my head off.

  i bet people could see my shoulders bouncing up and down from the back row.

  Oh, this is bad and how I ever got away with it I'll never know, but, here we go, by the time I hit my late teens, I couldn't stand it anymore, I used to pass most of the time wondering (deeply and seriously) ..... how am I gonna get out of here ??????, but finally I did get out before I turned 20, however I started driving on my own when I was 17, and had my own car, a piece of junk but it worked, and got me around town, so every Sunday in our congregation we would have our usual Talk/Watchtower Study, with two congregations using the same hall, one would have morning meetings and the other afternoon meetings (the worst during football season). So every Sunday when we had Sunday afternoon meetings, I would wake up early and at about 9:27 walk out the door telling my family I was going to the early meeting, luckily none ever asked to come with me, so I just went to the mall, or sat in the car and listened to the radio, and when we had Sunday morning meetings I would say I was tired and was going to go this afternoon, amazingly no one ever caught on. But the best was the assemblies, FOUR DAYS OF LECTURES as we all know, well, as unbelievable as this sounds it is the dead truth and I did it alot, having my own car was great, so I would leave for the assembly at a time when I would arrive as lunch was starting, so as I walked in, if anyone saw me and questioned me, I said I forgot something in my car and went to get it.(always made sure NOT to be caring any books, or it looks like you just got there), I would wonder around the assembly for lunch always making sure I bumped into my mom and dad, my brother (the ELDER) and my sister (the SPECIAL PIONEER), talk to a few other friends and leave before lunch was over, no one would question someone leaving during lunch. And then I would go home and enjoy the rest of the day, I must of done this twenty times and NEVER got caught. You have to admit it was ORIGINAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  I saw a JW Elder at X-Men 2 Movie this weekend!!

  i nearly fell off my seat.

  this 30ish jw elder came strolling in the movie theater with his wife and a huge tub of pop corn in his arm to watch x-men 2: xmen united.

  i couldn't believe the hypocrasy.........they teach not to even watch much tv, much less go to a movie.

  if comic books are considered BAD, why would they attend a movie with characters that have supernatural powers. I remember being told as a child that I couldn't keep my comic book collection because they glorified SATAN. How pathetic is that ? I am 35, I left (broke out of prison) 17 years ago, and live has not been better. I have been shunned by family and other Jo-Ho's. How could anybody get caught up in this crap. Best questions to ask your local Jo-Ho ...... 1) if all Russel's and Rutherfords work was misinterperted and has no meaning today, then 60 years from now, will the information out today be useless as well ?????

  2) if the governing body is the absolute truth, then why has there never been a black person (til now) on the governing body, let alone a Chinese, Middle Eastern, Pakistani, Russian, Asian, South American. Does Jehovah God only favor WHITE Americans only ?????? (this statement is NOT meant to offend any American, I love the USA and the people) I find it odd though that this is all that is ever on the governing body.

  3) If the bible states " for the end is coming like a thief in the night, no one knows the day nor the hour". Why does the governing body continue to make predictions and have this fascination with numbers, 1914, 1925, 1931, 1935, 1944, 1975, 2000. What's next, well if they keep guessing they are bound to get it right one day.

  4) If God is great and knows all, Why do the rules keep changing for Jo-Ho's ?????? I don't have enough room to list all the examples.

  If you are stuck in the organization and thinking about leaving, for job related issues (because you can't work during the meetings, kind of limits your opportunities), having a girlfriend (because if she is not a JO-HO, then you are doomed unless you convince her to become one, and why ruin someone else's life.), or just because you want to live life. My advice to you is RUN don't WALK. And the sooner you do it, the better you will feel. Once you have been away from it for awhile you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner.
